THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF LAW seeks a dynamic, innovative, and service-oriented leader to serve in the position of Head of Instructional Services. The incumbent will support the mission of the Law Library by participating in the Law Library Management Team and providing research instruction, circulation and reference services to support the teaching, scholarship, research, and service endeavors of the University of South Dakota School of Law students and faculty as well as the South Dakota legal community.
Duties in this position will continue to evolve over time as the library continues to focus on how best to meet the changing demands of our users. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
(1) Developing legal research curriculum and assessment tools and providing instruction on legal research and legal technology use throughout the Law School curriculum;
(2) Participation in the Law Library Management Team to assist with policy, budgetary, and management functions; and
(3) Provision of a wide range of reference and research assistance to a diverse group of library users.
Minimum Qualifications: J.D. from an ABA accredited law school; M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited program; and one to three years of law practice, library work, teaching or business experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Bar licensure in any state, one or more years in an academic law library, curriculum development, and assessment experience.
