Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law Library is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Technical Services Librarian. This individual will report directly to the Assistant Director of Technical Services. This position is responsible for assisting in the operation and management of Faulkner Law Library’s Technical Services Department. Additionally, depending on qualifications, experience, and interest, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to support the law students and faculty in the Circulation or Reference Departments.
This is a full-time, non-tenure, 12-month faculty position. This position is funded. Review of applications will begin immediately until the successful candidate is found.
Summary of Duties:
The Technical Services Librarian is responsible for the following:
Assists in the receipt and processing of all library collection materials, regardless of format, and all related tasks, including the proper cataloging of all items in the collection;
Assists in managing the Law Library’s catalog and integrated library system (Sirsi Dynix), as well as managing the cataloging and processing of material in all formats;
Maintains data, statistics, and reports;
Assists in the development of written policies and procedures pertinent to the operation and management of the Technical Services Department;
May assist in the supervision of student employees; and
Participates in circulation duties as needed.
Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited law school;
At least two (2) years of professional experience in an academic law library; and
Public service experience in an academic law school setting.
Master of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from ALA-accredited school of library and/or information science;
Knowledge of cataloging principles, including the use of RDA and MARC, as well as knowledge of emerging technologies in integrated cataloging systems;
Knowledge of a wide range of library and information resources, systems, and services, as well as knowledge of legal publishing trends; and
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
