Phelps Dunbar has an opening for a Reference Librarian in our Baton Rouge office. Responsibilities include:
Serves as point of contact for research services within the firm.
Tracks and records research services through client billing software when appropriate.
Establishes and maintains access to web research services.
Develops pathfinders and other guidance materials on a variety of subjects.
Works with outside service providers to promote relevant educational opportunities.
Maintains and updates access to the firm’s online continuing education library. Assists with selection of programs and proper reporting of courses.
Works with team to promote research services throughout the firm with regular web-based and on-site training presentations. This will require periodic travel to other offices.
Shares responsibility of cataloging and regular auditing of resources.
Shares responsibility of serials delivery and acquisitions maintenance with all members of the team. This will require periodic travel to other offices.
Works with team to maintain departmental statistics and promotion of departmental services.
Works with team to identify and implement creative and cost effective methods for delivery of research services and the push of information to lawyers and staff.
Assists the Manager with acquisitions planning, budget preparation, and short/long term planning/goals for department;.
Provides back-up support regarding the firm’s Knowledge Management solution, SharePoint Intranet, Client Extranets, and cloud-based data storage solutions.
Identification, evaluation and implementation of current and emerging technologies related to the delivery of research services.
Master’s in Library and Information Science required. Other relevant degrees, certifications, work experience, or a combination thereof may be considered for unique candidate.
Three or more years research experience required. Legal research experience preferred.
Experience conducting research using tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Cheetah, HeinOnline, Courtlink, MonitorSuite, CapIQ, etc.
Experience using EOS or other library management system a plus.
Candidate must have excellent communication and time management skills, innovative mind-set, professional demeanor, and unwavering attention to detail.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment; must be a creative problem solver, take initiative, and be able to rearrange priorities as workload requires.
