Law Library Director
Howard University School of Law invites applications for the position of Law Library Director. We are looking for a leader who can develop and implement innovative strategies that respond to the demands of an ever-changing law school environment. This is a 12-month tenured or tenure-track member of the law faculty who reports directly to the Dean of the law school.
The Director is responsible for all aspects of planning and administration of the Law Library, including strategic planning; budgeting; hiring, management and development of library staff; collection management; library services; and space planning. The Director will also have teaching and publication expectations consistent with the tenure and promotion standards of the law school and the University. The Director ensures that the Law Library's collection and resources are sufficient to meet the primary goal of supporting the teaching and research needs of the School of Law's faculty, staff and students, and ensures that the Law Library is in compliance with accreditation standards of the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools, and supports the Library's relations with the law school, the University, library consortia, professional organizations, and the public.

Required Qualifications: We expect the applicant to hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited school of library and/or information science; minimum five years of upper management experience; sound knowledge of, and experience in, library administration; a demonstrated record of successful classroom teaching; strong supervisory, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong record of professional achievement, scholarship, and leadership in law librarianship and a commitment to the mission of the Howard University School of Law.
