The purpose of this position is to support the efforts of the Fellowship Unit. The primary responsibility of the Program Manager is to manage the Fellowship selection process and provide programmatic support to those selected throughout their Fellowship terms. The position oversees the program management of the largest public interest legal fellowship program in the country and the responsibilities include: RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with legal aid organizations, law students, and law school career services to develop Fellowship applications in specific areas of issue/geographic need.
Ensure and manage logistics and execution of selection process for sponsoring organizations and candidates.
Create and manage implementation of programmatic policies, including those concerning eligibility, early departure, leave, salary and benefits, host organization issues, project modifications, etc.
Assist in overall management of Fellows by providing support in their professional growth throughout the Fellowship term, including issues such as recruitment, onboarding, managing up, project design and modification, troubleshooting, evaluations, and sustainability.
Manage content of Fellowship selection on website, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to design outreach strategy.
Supervise one direct report (Program Assistant).
Manage Loan Repayment Assistance Program for Fellows.
Administer application portal and serve as team lead for development of Grant Management System.
Participate in planning and execution of annual Leadership Development Training (LDT).
Support management and others engaged in sponsor recruitment, stewardship, and grant application development, including providing programmatic input for proposals.
Manage ad hoc projects as needed
Bachelor’s degree required, JD or other relevant advanced degree preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for preferred education.
Candidate should have extensive knowledge of the public interest law sector, understanding of social justice issues, and familiarity with non-profit organizations.
Minimum of three years of acquiring and using industry knowledge and/or skills in similar positions.
Excellent outreach and communication skills. Good customer service orientation.
Self-starter and ability to manage up.
Great project management skills. Proactive problem-solver.
Supervisory experience preferred. Experience mentoring/coaching, and/or HR experience a plus.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Must have experience using databases, Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience a plus.
