Laterally, a fast-paced online start-up that recruits associates for the nation’s top law firms, is seeking a Recruiting Manager. Our current Recruiting Manager is leaving us to attend law school, and we are seeking to hire her replacement in either New York City or Atlanta. We are looking for someone to start immediately or no later than September 1, 2018.
The Recruiting Manager’s primary function is to support the Managing Director of Attorney Consulting in his day-to-day operations and revenue-generating activities and to oversee the pipeline of candidates that sign up on Laterally to conduct a job search.
Compensation includes a base salary, plus incentive bonuses tied to the revenue created by the placement of each attorney. It is reasonable to hope for (and there is precedent supporting) a compensation package of around $100K (base + incentive bonuses). In addition, we offer a competitive benefits package, including stock options; health, dental, and vision insurance; a 401k plan; and paid time off.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. You will be interacting with the nation’s top young lawyers, by email, phone, text message and various other means of communication. There is NO cold calling aspect of the way we recruit. However, once we are engaged with an attorney, it is imperative that you be able to communicate with perfect grammar and professionalism to earn the candidate’s respect and trust.
Excellent organization skills.You will be responsible for organizing the Managing Director’s day-to-day. This involves knowing the status of often more than 50 candidates’ files, and being able to identify high, medium, and low priorities, oftentimes in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
Highly motivated, people-person.The team atmosphere at Laterally is very jovial and fun, but it is also very goals-driven and results-focused. We seek to represent only the best candidates, and we work hard to know them better and to engage with them in a way that our competition cannot match. You should be competitive and relentless in the pursuit of targets. And you should be genuinely interested in the minutiae of our candidate’s overall professional lives and job searches.
Flexibility. Laterally is extremely flexible with respect to where everyone works. Employees of the company travel regularly and live across the country and abroad, and thus it is important that you be able to work independently and oftentimes from home (or where ever you choose to work independently). There will be expectations that you are available to work in-person with the Managing Director at times, but that largely depends on where you reside, either in New York City, NY (or surrounding areas) or Atlanta, GA. There will be an expectation that you review and be responsive to emails during nights and weekends, but that is offset by an otherwise flexible working schedule. In general, our work week is less than 50 hours per week.
