The Charleston School of Law seeks resumes for the full-time position of Outreach, Instruction & Reference Librarian. This position will also serve as the direct supervisor for the Charleston School of Law Library reference student workers. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, maintaining and creating policies, and providing training to the reference students working in the law library.
The successful candidate must be a creative self-starter who enjoys involvement in projects from beginning to end and possess strong interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
The Outreach, Instruction & Reference Librarian will be responsible for creating, assigning, and maintaining the library’s online presence, including, Libguides, blog and social media, coordinating the management of electronic resources IP addresses with the IT Director, and providing reference assistance to Charleston School of Law library patrons.
Also, the position carries informal teaching responsibilities and assists with the preparation of instructional reference/research materials, including subject bibliographies.
The librarian will represent Charleston School of Law in local, regional, and national meetings as requested by the Associate Dean for Information Resources.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach as an adjunct professor at the law school; additional compensation will be provided for this instruction.
ABA accredited JD and ALA accredited M.L.S./M.I.L.S. degrees required;
3-5 years of prior library experience in any law Library type or department;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, law related resources, and other computer skills are required;
Strong time-management and organizational skills, effective communication, attention to detail, and confidentiality are essential;
Self-motivated with the ability to successfully work effectively alone and with others;
Prior instructional experience required; and
Prior supervisory experience preferred
