Description and Responsibilities: The Student Services & Outreach Librarian will spearhead efforts to draw law students, the local bench & bar, and the public back into the UK Law Library after we move into our newly renovated and updated facilities in Summer 2019. The Student Services & Outreach Librarian will coordinate programs to continue to promote engagement with the UK Law Library amongst multiple user groups, including law students, students from other departments, the bench & bar, and the public.
As a member of the reference librarian faculty, the Student Services & Outreach Librarian will provide proactive reference and research support to the college of law faculty, students, members of the practicing bar and other patrons of the UK Law Library. Reference service includes compilation of bibliographies & user guides, supporting UK Law’s student-run journals, collection development, and the provision of bibliographic instruction. This position requires reference desk hours.
Reference librarians at the UK Law Library play an integral part in the legal research and writing curriculum. In particular, reference librarians are expected to participate actively as professors for the 1L Legal Research course. The Student Services & Outreach Librarian may also have the opportunity to teach a 1-hour Specialized Legal Research course on a topic of interest as part of the UK Law Library’s upper-level research course rotation.

Additional Salary Information: $56,000 per year (at entry level), Tenure-track, 12-month appointment, 22 days annual leave, TIAA/CREF and Fidelity retirement plans.
