The Washington DC office of Finnegan, one of the world's leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking an Applications Developer/Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT department. This position will support in the analysis, design, development, testing, integration, and maintenance of business applications and database products.
Responsibilities include: Designing and developing interactive modern designs using front-end frameworks; developing high volume, highly scalable server-side features utilizing Windows Server, MS SQL Server, IIS, .NET, and C#; developing production-ready application features end-to-end in accordance with coding standards; modifying and maintaining existing custom and off the shelf (OTS) applications to include performing product analysis, quality assurance, revisions, bug-fixes, and continued operations of same; preparing and maintaining documentation on implementation and continuing operation of applications in a timely, clear and concise manner, responding to inquiries from internal customers regarding product features; performing troubleshooting and resolution of end-user and application issues, monitoring and following up with customers after resolution of complex technical issues to ensure integrity of solutions, and facilitating the escalation of major issues to the appropriate parties; recommending improvements to achieve greater efficiency, functionality and customer satisfaction; collaborating with development team members to bring new features and services into production; providing backup to other application database administrators for Microsoft SQL Server applications; writing reports or queries for SQL Server databases; providing support to firm personnel in other groups who work with integrated systems; leading and/or attending project meetings with other teams and departments, acting as a subject matter expert and developing project plans and timelines as needed; and other duties and special projects as assigned.

Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent related job experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an information technology role in a professional services environment, preferably law firms or legal environment, with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience related to applications and software development or support; and advanced experience with content management systems required. Candidates will have experience designing, developing, and performing unit and integration testing with C#, VB, VBA; experience using Java script and JQuery; and experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, MS SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services, Redgate SQL tools, Active Directory, Entity Framework, and the ability to quickly learn how to implement and manage new applications, systems and related technologies. Demonstrated understanding of Intapp solutions and law firm applications. Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and/or ViDesktop HRMS is a plus. Familiarity with vendor review and software selection and ability to work with internal customers to provide input to vendors. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, strong customer service and application troubleshooting skills, initiative and follow through, ability to design processes and techniques that enhance end-user efficiency, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced multi-office environment while responding to shifting demands and opportunities, is required.
