The University of Detroit Mercy Law Library is hiring a Reference & Serials Librarian. This position provides legal reference services to faculty, students, judges, lawyers, and other library patrons, and facilitates communication between legal vendors. This position also supervises the law library serials process.
I. Reference & Instruction (65%) (1) Provide reference services (2) Provide legal research instruction
II. Technical Services (25%) (1) Manage the processing of serials materials (2) Communicate with library vendors to resolve billing or access issues (3) Manage the routing of current awareness articles
III. Administrative Services (10%) (1) Supervise and train student workers (2) Participate in collection maintenance (3) Participate in collection development (4) Participate in current awareness research for faculty
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful applicant will exhibit a high level of interpersonal skills necessary to understand and solve student issues, and will be effective at meeting deadlines and satisfying on-demand projects while multitasking.
The successful applicant will quickly become proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Innovative Interface’s Millennium integrated library system program, Westlaw, Lexis Advance, Bloomberg Law, HeinOnline, Intelliconnect, and other databases and programs.
This position requires a team player with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
