Reporting to the Co-Chair, Global Litigation, the Director of Products Liability - Litigation Administration, will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic business plan to grow the practice and optimize performance. Incumbent must be highly driven to succeed and have the ability to thrive in a demanding fast paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a highly strategic business plan that drives profitable growth for the practice area.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Practice Group Leader, providing guidance on business strategy, planning, workflow, and staffing
Analyze trends within the legal industry and among competitors and make recommendations that ensure competitiveness.
Evaluate client needs and ensure GT’s top position within this practice area. Work with Practice Group Leader and attorneys to provide excellent client service and ensure client satisfaction.
Establish measurable goals and objectives for the department that support the execution of the business plan.
Oversee execution and progress on practice group strategic business plan action items.
Evaluate effectiveness of processes and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
Manage practice group resources effectively. Ensure lawyers and staff have resources necessary to succeed. Establish business case and advocate for additional resources if needed.
Effectively manage daily administration and business operations of the department.
Facilitate effective ongoing communication within the department.
Provide guidance on the most efficient way to staff certain client matters. Support department leadership and attorneys with workflow coordination as needed.
Work with department leadership and Marketing to drive marketing and business development initiatives for the practice area.
Assess the need for further skill development of associates to meet future client needs. Liaise with PD on associate development and reviews.
Work with Recruiting on recruiting top talent for lateral attorney and staff positions.
Collaborate with other administrative departments to implement and drive various initiatives.
Prepare revenue projections for the practice group. Analyze and interpret financial data and trends, identifying opportunities to enhance financial performance.
Track paralegal and associate financial performance. Work with department leadership to address performance issues.
Develop reports and presentations to firm leadership on business plan progress.
Develop and monitor the budget.
Collaborate with Finance to establish pricing parameters.
Evaluate ROI for business development expenditures and make recommendations as appropriate.
Skills & Competencies:
Proven track record of successfully implementing business plans.
Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish effective relationships with attorneys.
Aware of current trends in legal market.
Ability to prioritize and multitask and work under pressure.
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
JD strongly preferred.
10 years’ experience in a law firm setting.
3 to 5 years’ experience in Practice Group Management.
