Akerman LLP, a leading US law firm, is seeking a Research Assistant to be based in our Denver office. Working closely with the research librarians, this position supports attorneys and staff, and reports to the Director of Library Services. Responsibilities include:
Maintain strict confidentiality of firm matters
Perform background information gathering as part of the client intake process
Assist with reference requests and research while providing a high level of customer service via phone, in person, and email
Review research findings and write summaries
Answer questions from attorneys and staff and escalate when necessary
Conduct public records, legal, and business research using appropriate electronic resources
Keep abreast of available research tools applicable to the position’s responsibilities; developments with current research tools; and developments in research concepts, techniques, and methods
3+ years of research experience is required, preferably in a law firm environment. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. In addition to strong research skills, candidates should have excellent listening and communication skills as well as attention to detail. Candidates must be able to work independently and efficiently under pressure and be able to thrive within the firm's highly dynamic environment.
