We seek a Senior Practice Development Specialist to support the CFIUS/Sanctions practice group, based primarily in the Washington, DC office. The person in this position will focus on content and knowledge management , subject area research and updates, the day-to-day design, management and maintenance of knowledge related solutions and tools, practice administrative activities (meetings, logistical support), training, client care, and providing support to the partners working in the practice area. Additionally, the person in this position will be tasked with monitoring, tracking and updating strategic business and practice development initiatives, and acting as a liaison to administrative functions regarding the practice support needs.
Reports to: Director of Practice Development
Create (pro-actively) and maintain key practice knowledge content related to OFAC, CFIUS, and the equivalent bodies in the EU; keep abreast of developments related to foreign investment into the US and in the EU as well as significant mergers/deals; and keep practice area attorneys updated on substantive and relevant developments, in real time
Become knowledgeable on the individual practices of each member of the practice as well as the practice's key clients; as needed, assist with workflow management and project monitoring
Monitor and circulate regulatory and legislative developments
Coordinate with counterparts in Cleary's European offices on knowledge content and developments as needed
Work with practice area attorneys to harvest know-how and content directly from them, and design smart/efficient methods and solutions for maintaining and accessing the content/knowledge; work with practice area attorneys to create and maintain relevant templates/forms and samples
Maintain knowledge tools and repositories to ensure that practice area content is current and relevant
Assist with regulatory filings
Act as the point of contact for inquiries on Cleary work product and matter experience and expertise
Work with other business support functions such as Business Development, matter management, Learning and Development, etc. on behalf of the CFIUS/Sanctions group
As needed, conduct research or be responsible for research related to client entities or prospective client entities
Assist the design, organization and implementation of practice group specific training programs in conjunction with practice group attorneys and the associate development group
Create and maintain key practice area presentations as exemplars and templates
Five (5) or more years' experience working in a professional services organization; law firm or law department experience very desirable
Background in research or library sciences very helpful
Experience working in a global environment and ability to work collaboratively across business areas and geographies
BA/BS required; JD helpful but not required
Experience being the content and knowledge manager for a particular subject area or group of subject areas, very relevant
Strong understanding of knowledge and business requirements of lawyers or similar
Strong verbal and written communication skills
