The Cardozo Law Library seeks an innovative, student-focused, detail-orientated and tech savvy librarian who is passionate about connecting people to information and making meaningful change in the on-going transformation of the law library to join its dynamic team.
The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law is a leader in legal education, located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. The law school is renowned for its program in intellectual property, which includes the FAME Center for Fashion, Arts, Media and Entertainment Law. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Public Services, the Head of Access Services and Collections oversees all access services operations, our ever-expanding interlibrary loan program, and will work closely with the Associate Dean to reimagine and reinvigorate our collection and library spaces. This position is ideally suited to someone who both enjoys large scale, multi-year planning and pays close attend the day-to-day operations of a well-run library. This position will also be involved in teaching students throughout their law school careers and should be committed to student well-being and success. Additionally, as part of the public services team, this position provides professional legal reference service to the Law School and university communities, as well as other patron groups.
M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. is required; J.D. is required.
A minimum of five years of library experience and meaningful supervisory experience required.
Outstanding administrative, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
Superior organizational, planning and administrative skills including the ability to work effectively on the broad picture as well as on the detail level.
Strong technical skills. Active interest in technology. Ability to understand what technology can be used for to improve services, instruction efforts, and workflows.
Strong communication skills in the formal classroom environment.
