Just a few decades ago, Shenzhen was a village at the border between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Today, almost forty years after its designation as China’s first Special Economic Zone, Shenzhen is a modern, bustling, and increasingly cosmopolitan city of more than ten million. It is located at the hub of the Pearl River Delta, the world’s most populous metropolitan area. Half an hour from Shenzhen is historic Guangzhou. Directly south of Shenzhen is Hong Kong, a global financial center. Shenzhen is now home to several of China’s most innovative firms, such as Tencent, DJI, and BYD, and continues to be at the leading edge of China’s economic transformation.
This position requires a Juris Doctor. A JD and MLIS are preferred.
