This is an entry-level paraprofessional position for a motivated college graduate interested in Library Science, current Library Science student, or recent MLIS graduate. The Library Technical Services Specialist will join our national team, working under the Director of Research Services. Responsibilities include cataloging, enhancement of existing records, updating vendor relationship data, maintaining database user and print standing order lists, responding to user license requests, centralizing print subscriptions, processing invoices, and supporting other administrative tasks. The Library Technical Services Specialist will work with new and existing applications to streamline library processes and suggest improvements, making independent judgments to best solve issues arising in day-to-day library operations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Cataloging: Updating MARC records in open source library system, including cleaning up serial and patron records, checking for broken links, removing old records, maintaining routing lists, and building reports related to catalog activity.
Updating vendor relationship and resources data: Filling in information gaps related to contact information and access credentials, maintaining resource records by adding new resource subscriptions and archiving cancelled subscriptions, removing departed user accounts, classifying all databases by practice area, adding contract expiration dates into a calendar system, and assisting with updates to electronic resource management system.
Technical services support: Respond to user license requests, assisting in setting up database credentials for new and requesting attorneys, including sending out welcome emails to new attorneys using a set template to provide credential information; and assisting with the clean-up of metadata in research request ticketing platform.
Administrative support for electronic and print subscriptions: Maintain user lists for all databases, liaising with vendors to remove departed users and emailing users pre-departure to request back library materials; maintaining user lists for print standing orders, annually emailing attorneys to confirm ongoing print needs; processing invoices including keeping records of cancellations and purchases; working with vendors to centralize print subscriptions to the firm’s operations center; labeling and routing desk copies; maintaining publication routing list request page on intranet and other projects as needed.
Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Enrollment in or completion of MLIS from an ALA accredited school preferred
